Services in the coming weeks

In more normal times we would be about to enter a pattern of services and celebrations that have long stood the test of time. In 2020 things are going to be very different. The purpose of this second letter of the week is to give you a simple list of how we will be celebrating the run-up to Christmas in our Benefice.

Service of Light, Hope & Remembrance

Zoom Services of
Lessons & Carols

Sunday, 20 December 2020 at 4pm & 6.30pm

As we cannot gather to sing Christmas carols this year, our Services of Lessons & Carols will be online. This will give us an opportunity to hear the Christmas story and to sing as lustily as we like in the comfort of our own homes.

These are the Zoom invitations for these services –

Assuming that we will be allowed to resume some level of Public Worship for the Christmas season, the following services will take place in the Benefice:

Crib Service

Thursday, 24 December (Christmas Eve) at 3pm
St John’s Church, Corby Glen

A simple service aimed at families and younger members of our community. A great way to start the Festival of Christmas.

If there is a high level of demand for the Crib Service on Christmas Eve I will offer a second service at 5pm.

Services of Midnight Holy Communion

Thursday, 24 December (Christmas Eve) at 11.30pm
St Andrew’s Church, Irnham
and St Nicholas’ Church, Swayfield

Holy Communion for Christmas Day

Christmas Day at 9.30am
St John’s Church, Corby Glen

If these services are able to take place it will be essential to book a place in advance in order that we might observe the social distancing rules laid down by the government.

Please book your places by emailing or telephoning me using the contact details below:

If the government does not allow the resumption of Public Worship for Christmas, I will write again with alternative options for celebrating Christmas in prayer and worship.
